The short-stem prosthesis as a standard implant
In younger patients, the short-stem prosthesis is increasingly becoming the standard implant.
The calcar-guided systems in particular show excellent results in the endoprosthetics registers. The short-stem implants we currently use (Artiqo A2 and Mathys Optimys) show the best results in the endoprosthetics registers. The hip implants we use have the lowest abrasion values and therefore have a very long service life. The sliding pair used is ceramic-ceramic or vitamin E polyethylene. This is currently the gold standard for modern artificial hip joints.
If the hip operation is performed using a minimally invasive, tissue-sparing approach, the results are excellent. We use the AMIS approach (direct anterior approach) or an equally minimally invasive anterolateral approach, depending on the patient's specific anatomy. The aim is always to avoid muscle injury at all costs. Sport with an artificial hip joint should be possible again afterwards. Patient satisfaction after the operation is very high.
As a rule, the hip pain caused by coxarthrosis is quickly forgotten and you can resume your sporting activities without pain.
