hip injuries in cycling

The low grip position on the racing bike or even the aero position require very wide joint movements of the hip. If there is a restriction of movement in the hip, often caused by bony deformations of the hip (femoroacetabular impingement), this can lead to early damage to the hip. This can lead to labrum rupture, cartilage damage and inflammation of the joint. The typical symptom is groin pain.

Treatment is initially conservative and, if pain cannot be eliminated in this way, then by means of hip arthroscopy.

The pictures show an ultra-distance racing cyclist during a cycling race from Lake Garda to the North Cape (4000 km).

If you suffer from hip or groin pain while exercising, we will be happy to advise you in detail, also in relation to the sport you do.
