Kickboxing is a very stressful sport for the hip joint. If there are bony deformities of the hip (femoroacetabular impingement – FAI), the hip is particularly at risk.
If groin pain occurs, damage to the hip joint can occur early on, particularly in martial arts. Early wear and tear of the hip joint (coxarthrosis) is inevitable. In the early stages, however, the bony deformation of the hip can be treated well. This is done with a minimally invasive hip operation (hip arthroscopy). The operation is particularly gentle on the soft tissue and can be carried out with 2-3 very small skin incisions (each around 1 cm).
Movement is permitted again quickly after the procedure. Wear and tear on the hip is stopped and damage to the hip can heal. Sports can be resumed soon after the operation and the hip has improved mobility.
However, the hip operation should be carried out in a center by a specialist with many years of experience. At the Hüftzentrum.berlin we have been performing joint-preserving hip operations several times a day for many years. Our department is named as a reference center for hip surgery nationally and internationally.
Please feel free to contact us, we will be happy to advise you.
