Cartilage cell transplant on the hip
Autologous (body's own) cartilage transplantation in the hip joint provides the best biological cartilage regeneration tissue. In the first step, cartilage cells are removed. These are grown in the laboratory and in a second operation after about six weeks, they are placed in the cartilage defect. The cartilage defect closes within a few weeks. The image shows the Co.don Chondrosphere procedure. A so-called spheroid contains around 250,000 vital cartilage cells. The surgical procedure on the hip is always carried out very gently as a hip arthroscopy. This is a very minimally invasive hip operation.
The extremity must be rested for six weeks.
This procedure has been routinely used by Dr. Alexander Moser, hip specialist, for many years for suitable cartilage defects.
