Reference Center for Hip Surgery – Dr. Alexander Moser at the Friedrichshain Hospital
Dr. Moser performs up to 5 joint-preserving hip operations per day: hip arthroscopies, mini open hip operations, realignment operations of the pelvis (PAO, periacetabular realignment osteotomies) and the proximal femur.
Joint-preserving hip operations, particularly hip arthroscopies, are only performed in a few clinics with the necessary experience. Hip surgeons regularly have the opportunity to observe hip operations performed by Dr. Moser at the Friedrichshain Clinic.
The most common condition treated with hip arthroscopy is femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). The patient has hip pain and groin pain. The mobility of the hip is significantly restricted.
If there are symptoms of impingement in the hip and these remain untreated, more than 50% of patients will develop coxarthrosis (coxarthrosis) within five years. In the early stages, this disease can be easily treated with arthroscopic surgery. However, if this disease remains untreated for a long time, a hip prosthesis (artificial hip joint) is often necessary, even at a young age.
The Friedrichshain Clinic is considered a reference center for hip surgery (Center of Excellence)
